If you examine your hand or any other part of your body with a high-powered microscope , you will observe that some very fine objects are coming out of it and its covering . These microscopic objects come out from all parts of the bodies . These are common to all . It is through these microscopic bodies that the contagious and the infectious diseases are spread . They disperse in the air , contaminating it .

They have got a particular smell of their own . According to Hindu scriptures , the smell is the distinctive property of the earth , or , in other words , this smell depends upon something gross .

Some of these powers are found developed more in certain animals than in human beings . As for example , the smelling power is developed more in a dog than in a human . You know that a dog can trace a master with one's smelling faculty from a very long distance . This is only because of the microscopic particles with a particular smell coming out from the body of the person .

These microscopic bodies spread from one gross body to the similar other bodies , thus uniting them . If a body is healthy , it will spread health . If a body is sickly , it will spread disease . One , who does not care to remain healthy , is a danger not only to oneself but also to others .

Therefore it is very necessary that one must be healthy not only for one's own sake but also for the sake of society in which one lives and moves about . Such a unity is in respect of Annamayee Kosh or the Gross Body .

Now let us take Pranmayee Kosh or the Vital Cover .

You are constantly inhaling air which unites us all , through the process of breathing . Air contains oxygen , which enters your lungs .

The oxygen , as you know , supports combustion and maintains normal heat inside your body . It causes energy to be produced in your body and , thus , maintains life in all the living beings , acting as a common requisite . Oxygen purifies the blood and maintains its redness .

When oxygen enters the lungs , there is gaseous exchange . Oxygen is absorbed by the blood and carbon dioxide from the blood is thrown out through the lungs by exhalation .

This carbon dioxide supplies food to the green vegetation . The plants and the vegetation absorb the carbon dioxide , and break it up into carbon and oxygen . They assimilate this carbon as their food for their growth , and give back oxygen to the atmosphere . This released oxygen is again utilised by the living beings to produce energy and to sustain their lives .

Such a continuous process from the animals to the vegetables and vice versa in cyclic order clearly goes to prove that there is unity not only among the human bodies but also between the bodies of the other animals and those of the vegetable rulerdom .

Without the oxygen produced by the vegetation , it will be impossible for the animals , including human beings , to sustain their lives . And , without the carbon dioxide given out by the animal rulerdom , the vegetable rulerdom can not survive . They are interdependent .

Just as one organ of a gross body is dependent on the working of the other organs of the same body , so , too , the animal rulerdom is dependent for its life and existence on the vegetable rulerdom and vice versa , proving that they are the different organs of the same body — the Universal Body of Nature .

Moreover , the plants and the vegetation have also to depend on the mineral rulerdom for their life-food .

Both the vegetable and the animal rulerdoms require potassium , phosphorus , minerals , carbon , nitrogen , etc , for their growth and nourishment .

Where do they get all these ingredients from ?

They get their minerals through water on the earth which supplies these requirements both to the vegetable and the animal rulerdoms .

Carbon is absorbed by the vegetation from the air through carbon assimilation . Similarly , nitrogen for our nitrogenous food , which is needed for our body-building is also derived from the atmosphere , through the process of nitrogen fixation by the roots of certain plants of the family of Leguminosae .

Thus , we see that there does exist a unity in cyclic order among the mineral , vegetable and the animal rulerdoms , through the earth , water , air , etc .

We can , therefore , clearly conclude that all these rulerdoms are working in close cooperation for the good of One and All .

There pervades a continuity of unity among all the elements of Nature , helping each other for the common good of the Whole .

Then again , it is only in the presence of the Sun light that the plants can absorb carbon from the carbon dioxide , assimilate it for their growth and give out oxygen , through a chemical process called Photosynthesis .

Thus , you can see that , there can be no vegetable life without the Sun and no animal life , either direct or indirect , without the vegetable life .

They are all , therefore , interconnected , through the Sun .

The Sun not only gives us light but is also a cure for a number of our diseases and ailments . Besides , it provides energy to all of us , directly and also indirectly .

The Sun , being immensely useful in the daily life , was worshipped by the ancient Egyptians . Also , some of the cults of the Indians even today worship the Sun , as the symbol of GOD , because it is the visible source of energy which supports life on the earth .

A time may come , when the scientists may succeed in harnessing the Sun's energy for our daily use . Not only the Sun , but the sea may also be utilised to provide energy for the humankind .

Then , as you know , both on the North Pole and the South Pole , there is no Sun for six months . How do they get light there during that period ? Is it all dark there ? No .

Just as the moon enlightens our nights in this region , a beautiful displays of luminous meteoric phenomenon of electrical character is arranged for our good by Nature , through Aurora Borealis in Northern Sphere and Aurora Australis in Southern Sphere , to enlighten those regions during the six months , when there is no Sun .

How wonderful is the arrangement of Nature for our common good in the Polar regions ! Similarly , as with the Sun , our unity with the Moon , the Mars and other planets can be traced and proved .

There cannot be the slightest doubt that the entire Universe is interconnected with the common thread of continued unity for the common good of the Whole . Why ? Because there is One and the only One-without-a-second , who is all in All .

We see in this material world that everything is useful to us in some way or the other , directly or indirectly . We may know it or not , but it is so .

Nothing is useless .

Even discarded bones and our dirty excreta are utilized as manure for vegetation and also for other purposes including manufacturing chemicals for the benefit of human beings .

All creations are working constantly , offering their usefulness in their own spheres for the common good of all .

For example , the roots , the herbs , the shrubs , the bark , the latex , the sap , the leaves , the flowers , the fruits , the minerals , etc , are all useful and are being utilized in different ways for our common good .

The vegetation not only offers fresh air , sweet fragrance and pleasant sight , but is also useful to provide food and medicines , manufactured in the laboratory of Nature , for our various physical or mental ailments and other needs .
